Understanding the EU NIS 2 Directive

KSA’s Data Management and Personal Data Protection Standards
The National Data Management and Personal Data Protection Standards were created in
accordance with a directive from the Saudi Authority for Data and Artificial Intelligence, under
Cabinet Resolution number (292), dated 27/04/1441H. This directive instructed the National Data
Management Office to develop and implement policies, governance mechanisms, standards, and
controls for data and artificial intelligence, and to monitor compliance upon publication.
The framework is intended to be adopted by all Public Entities in the Kingdom.
UAE Personal Data Protection Law
The UAE Personal Data Protection Law (UAE PDPL) applies to all public and commercial organizations in the UAE that deal with personal data, regardless of their size or location. Any information that relates to an identifiable individual, either directly or indirectly, such as a name, identification number, location data, online identifier, or any other factor that is specific to the individual’s physical, physiological, genetic, mental, economic, cultural, or social identity is considered to be personal data. The law defines personal data in a broad sense to include all of this information.

California Privacy Right Act
As there is growing concern about data privacy and protection, consumers are provided various rights with respect to the use of their personal data. A Committee of Professionals on Data Protection, headed by Judge B. N. Sri Krishna, was established by the national government in 2017 to look into matters pertaining to data protection in the nation. In July 2018, the Committee turned in its report.
